A brief update

1. Still coughing.

2. Still working on the WIP that isn't the WIP I should be working on. However, I did kill one of my darlings (saved it to another file for later use) because it didn't fit the mood of the WIP, which is light and fluffy. It took two days for me to convince myself to rewrite the scene, and I'm MUCH happier with the rewrite, so it's all good. WIP word count total: 14,701 so far.

3. Still no snow. Bucky is not pleased.

Bucky's actually a giant dog all around. He's only 74 pounds, but he's all fur, so he's the size of a small horse. Photos are deceptive.

Ah I love that! Boyfriend always adminishes me because I am a very small human but the bigger the dog the more I love it. He had to put his foot down on anything bigger because I would have probably come home with a Bernese mountain dog if I’d had free reign. Bucky is a very beautiful dog!! Congratulations on such a great guy!

Thank you! The simple solution is to get rid of the boyfriend.

I'm talking from experience here. My senior dog (who became my service dog late in life and is now retired and happily living as comfortable a life I can provide) outlasted TWO husbands.

LOL thank you for your encouragement! Bucky is beautiful and large!!!! I love him and I have not met him in the least!

Luckily boyfriend really is looking after our best interests in this case, while I would get a Newfoundlander if I had the chance we do live in a fairly large apartment space which, while large is still an apartment. He capped us at 90lbs so those giant breeds of my heart will have to wait for more room. My doggo who is three months now will probably be between 70-90lbs based on his growth so far so I’m satisfied. Luckily my uncle at a farm has a big dopey Bernese so I can get my giant doggo fix just by visiting!!

On a serious note I appreciate your concern and advice! It’s such a red flag to hear about women’s boyfriends trying to control their dog choices and in a lot of instances is a sign of abuse and manipulation. I’m extremely lucky with my guy, and we’ve been together for twelve years strong, and are each other’s very best friends. He just has a little anxiety about picturing me dragged five miles on the end of a leash by an excited horse dog. While we both know that would never happen, I am not without the ability to compromise to save his heart.

I'm glad to hear that!

Bucky's only 74 pounds -- he just takes up way more space than you'd think because he's really tall and really long. He's like a giant skeleton covered in long fur. He stands about 27 inches high at the withers. Our borzoi, Xena, will probably end up 80-90 pounds and 30 inches.

Giant dogs are the best. And yeah, your boyfriend's okay, too. ;)

If you ever need grooming advice (for the dog, not the boyfriend), hit me up. I find dog grooming relaxing, even if it makes Bucky a Very Sad Doggo.

Thank you! I probably will ask for some grooming advice! He's just starting to get his teenage coat in now, while he's not going to be as majestic a floof as Bucky He probably will need more maintenance then the once a week bath and slicker brushing he's getting right now once all that fur grows in. I don't think he's going to be a double coat dog but I've been tricked before!

I didn't realize Xena was a borzoi! I'm so excited to see her grow into the beautiful alien she's meant to become!

It is! We went to my wife's holiday party a couple weekends back, so I dyed him to match my hair. The blue didn't take so well in his fur, but the purple is just lovely.

I also did his fur in ace colors for Pride, but again, the gray didn't take well.

Thank you! We had one really awesome day of snow back in November, right after we got our new puppy... and then nothing. Very sad Bucky misses snow!
